Spring Cleaning for Your HVAC

Every owner of an HVAC has probably already heard how it’s critical to perform regular maintenance checks. But you don’t need to have someone come over to give your HVAC a look every month. To keep it properly running, you should have your HVAC checked twice a year – in the spring and the fall. And because we are in the month of April, this is the perfect time to do it.

Things You Can Do on Your Own

It’s true that you shouldn’t do a complete maintenance check of your HVAC on your own, but there are some things you can do before the professionals come to give it a more detailed check. For example, you can probably change the air filters on your own. Filters get dirty quite quickly and should be cleaned or changed regularly. If you have an outside condenser unit, remove any debris or clutter than might have gathered around it. Dirt, pebbles, tall grass – anything that might interfere with your HVAC once you’ve fired it up should be removed.

Let Your HVAC Work for a While

When you’ve made sure the filters are clean, and there’s no debris around the outdoor condenser unit, you should turn on your HVAC for a trial run. Keep your ears peeled for any strange sounds coming out of the condenser unit. You should also check if the indoor unit does everything it should during a regular cycle.

Know When to Call the Cavalry

If you notice any strange sounds from the outdoor condenser unit, or if your indoor unit starts behaving funny, you should call One Hour Air Largo. We’ll come, check your HVAC, determine what’s wrong, and make sure that it’s ready to keep you cool and comfortable during the spring and the summer. Or, you can enroll in our regular maintenance program – whichever works the best for you.
